Samsung Vibrant launching early on the 15th
So Tmobile's version of the Samsung Galaxy S is launching early. The Vibrant will be available on the 15th instead of the 21st. This is great news for those who are anxiously waiting for this phone. This phone has a really decent set of specs and is sure to satisfy many of the Tmobile customers who have been waiting for a higher end Android to hit TMO. Here's the goods:
1 GHz Samsung "Hummingbird" processor
4-inch Super AMOLED display
5 megapixel camera capable of recording HD video
Support for Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, and most POP3 and IMAP services
Dimensions of 4.82" x 2.54" x 0.39" and a weight of 4.16 oz
It "benefits from enhanced speeds with T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, but it’s not an HSPA+ device"
We've already heard most of these specs in the past, but it's good to see them confirmed by T-Mobile. The Vibrant will definitely be one of the higher-specced devices on the market when it's released. It's kind of disappointing that it's shipping with Android 2.1 rather than 2.2, but I'm sure there will be an update to Froyo soon after release. The one question I have is this: How does the Vibrant benefit from T-Mobile's HSPA+ network if it's not an HSPA+-capable device?
So who's getting it.
